What is a Co-op?
A Cooperative (or Co-op) is owned and democratically governed by its members, the people who use its products or services, or are employed by the business. It is a business structure that allows people to come together for a common purpose. Cooperatives are based on the values of self-help, self-responsibility, democracy, equality, equity and solidarity. In the tradition of their founders, co-operative members believe in the ethical values of honesty, openness, social responsibility and caring for others.
